Should You Be Worried About Air Pollution?

FOM London Story

The answer is: yes, you should.

I do not think that many people fully understand or appreciate the harmful effects of air pollution on the skin in respect of premature skin aging, skin inflammation, age spots and hyperpigmentation, extreme skin sensitivity and dryness.  We need to look beyond sunlight in the future.

The risk of pollution in urban areas lead to the risk of stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, and chronic and acute respiratory diseases, including asthma. Recent studies have suggested even an increase in depression. Clearly urban pollution can cause not only damage to your skin but to your health and wellbeing.

How is air pollution damaging your skin?

Your skin is your protection and it is the largest organ. As such it is exposed to daily pollution. This simply means all that grime and dirt in the air can cause free radicals to damage your skin such as your own skin collagen and elastin. When collagen and elastin break down you get visible signs of aging and you look older than you are. Other signs of aging induced by pollution are fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation and dark spots.

How can you prevent skin aging caused by the harmful effects of pollution?

You need to be looking beyond sun protection. I am not saying you should stop using Sun Creams, in fact you must use sun creams but in addition you need to introduce anti pollution skincare routine. Our skincare products offer both skin protection from the harmful effects of pollution and skin repair from skin damage such as age spots, hyperpigmentation, loss of hydration, collagen and elastin.

We at FOM London are innovators in anti-pollution skincare technologies and quite frankly are disrupting the market by creating a new category in skincare. We have created and developed an unique science here on the UK soil. We do just anti-pollution skincare products and nothing else day in and day out.
